Common Types of Hooks Used for Grade 70 Transport Chain

Clevis Grab Hook - Has a shallow throat opening that allows for easy, secure connections.

Clevis Slip Hook - Or Sling Hook, is more durable and features a wider throat.These hooks attach easily to chain and allows for more flexibility within your tie down assembly.

Chain Binder VS. Load Binder

A Binder is a Chain Tensioning tool used to bind, clamp, anchor or even tie-down cargo for transportation.

Ratchet Binder (Ratchet Chain, Ratchet Load Binder) - Uses ratcheting action to help tension chain and secure the load. A ratchet binder has a ratchet handle and two tension hooks on each end.

Lever Binder (Snap Binder, Lever Chain, Lever Load Binder) - Chain-tensioning utensile that uses leverage action to help tighten and secure cargo. Including a tension hook on each end, this binder requires more strength to tighten than normal ratchet binders.

When choosing between lever binders or ratchet binders you will find that Grade 70 Transport Chain is for loads being transported on a flatbed, car carrier, trailer or any other moving vehicle. Ratchet or lever binders can be used with Grade 70 Transport Chain. Different grades of chain have different work load limits (WLL), each binder will be marked with the appropriate chain size for proper performance.

It is very important to use the right heavy-duty chain for the load that you are transporting and it is DOT compliant.
